China News Service, Chongqing, February 25th (Liang Qinqing and Yang Shihan) On the evening of the 24th, the "Land-Sea Covenant Youth and City China-Europe Youth Dialogue" was held in Chongqing in the form of "online + offline". More than 40 people from China, Young people, experts and scholars from the UK, Germany and Italy focused on climate change and discussed sustainable development.

In recent years, the global climate has faced many challenges, and extreme weather has been staged everywhere.

Wan Xin, a postgraduate student at the International University of Rome in Italy, said that in Germany last summer, the water level of the Rhine River dropped sharply and the riverbed was exposed, which seriously hindered the development of trade.

In the face of increasingly frequent and severe climate disasters, addressing climate change has become a global issue.

"No country in the world is immune to the impact of climate change." Zheng Ruijun, a lecturer at Sichuan International Studies University, said that in the current society, new technologies and products that support energy conservation and emission reduction, such as solar energy, wind energy, and new energy vehicles, are being promoted and used. While successfully reducing emissions, the country has also maintained steady economic growth.

In response to this, Fang Xing, a student of Chongqing University, gave an example that the research team of the school’s “Growing from Oil” has developed a low-carbon, environmentally friendly, safe and reliable vegetable insulating oil to replace mineral oil, thus promoting the green and efficient development of transformer technology.

In Chongqing, she has witnessed the green transformation of this traditional industrial city in the steel and building materials industries, and felt Chongqing's great efforts in energy conservation and emission reduction.

On the evening of the 24th, the activity of "Land and Sea Covenant·Youth and City·China-Europe Youth Dialogue" was held in Chongqing.

In response to climate change, Italy has also made efforts.

Yake, a graduate student at the University of Rome III in Italy, said that at present, Italy has made climate change a compulsory course for students in order to prepare the future public to deal with climate emergencies.

Hu Yaji, a student at the School of Environment and Ecology of Chongqing University, believes that the power of youth plays an important role in combating climate change.

He said that the Green Youth Volunteer Service Team of Chongqing University organized the school "Earth Hour" in response to the call of the World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF).

"Through the daily efforts and voluntary work of our students and volunteers, we can put our carbon footprint reduction into action and inspire more people to join us." (End)
