This Sunday morning, several hundred kilos of a product resembling cocaine were found on a beach in Réville in the English Channel.

According to Ouest-France, "the national gendarmerie seized nearly a ton of cocaine" and the seizure would amount to "about sixty million euros".

Several hundred kilos of a product similar to cocaine, contained in forty packets, were found Sunday morning on a beach in Réville, in the Channel, we learned Sunday from the prosecutor of the Republic of Cherbourg.

“About forty packages” were discovered on Sunday morning “on the beach of Reville whose content looks like cocaine”, Pierre-Yves Marot, public prosecutor of Cherbourg, told AFP, confirming information from the regional daily Ouest-France.

"Weighing and analysis" are "in progress to confirm it", added the prosecutor, explaining that the quantity found was estimated at "several hundred kilos".

Almost a ton of cocaine

According to Ouest-France, "the national gendarmerie seized nearly a ton of cocaine" on a beach in Réville, a town located about thirty kilometers east of Cherbourg, and the seizure would amount to "about sixty million euros".

Cocaine has already been found on the French coast.

Thus, at the end of 2019, bales containing a total of 1,600 kg of cocaine washed up on the beaches of an area ranging from Saint-Jean-de-Luz (Pyrénées-Atlantiques) to Camaret (Finistère).

More recently, at the end of May 2022, cocaine loaves, for a total of around 21 kg, were found on a beach in Berck (Pas-de-Calais).
