“[US President Joe] Biden’s goal was to prevent Germany and Western Europe as a whole from opening the pipeline in the event of an early onset of cold weather,” he said in an exclusive interview on RT.

Hersh recalled that the German authorities imposed sanctions, stopped one pipeline, "but had the right to open a new one, which Biden did not want."

“This was the essence of the operation: to make sure that Europe, in particular Western Europe, continues to support NATO and supply weapons, fueling the proxy war against Russia that is being waged right now,” he said.

The Kremlin previously noted that the West wants the topic of explosions at Nord Stream to go “into the sand”.

Permanent Representative of Russia to the UN Vasily Nebenzya said that the perpetrators of the explosions on the Nord Stream and Nord Stream 2 gas pipelines will have to answer in any case.

On February 21, US Ambassador to Russia Lynn Tracy was summoned to the Russian Foreign Ministry.

The Russian Foreign Ministry told Tracy that Washington should give an explanation about the explosions at Nord Stream.
