The head of European diplomacy, Josep Borrell, in an interview with the Spanish newspaper El Periódico, stated that the European Union does not want the "destruction" of Russia.

“We do not support Ukraine to bring about political change in Russia, and, frankly, we do not want the destruction of Russia,” TASS quoted Borrell as saying.

At the same time, he felt that the EU's approach to the situation in Ukraine was "too gradual".

“Undoubtedly, it would have been better if, instead of spending three months debating whether or not to send Leopard tanks, they would have been sent earlier,” he said.

Borrell also urged the EU countries to accelerate the pace of ammunition production and use the arsenals that the EU states have.
