One year after the start of the war in Ukraine, on February 24, 2022, more than 100,000 displaced Ukrainians are being accommodated in France.
From now on, only a few hundred Ukrainians arrive each month in France, against a thousand daily in March 2022. The government is preparing to gradually close the reception centers to offer long-term housing.

Inna shares a small bedroom with her two young children.
She left Mariupol at the start of the war, leaving behind her life and her husband, who died there last April.

I would absolutely like to integrate here in France, to live here.
We are very aware that things are dramatic in Ukraine, specifically in Mariupol
,” she explains
.
Inna would like to settle in France, learn the language and work in accounting.
New step in sustainable hospitality
Prime Minister Élisabeth Borne came to this center in Bures-sur-Yvette on Thursday to announce that the government was going to launch a new stage to welcome Ukrainian refugees on a long-term basis.

It is important now to move on to a new stage, to be able to accompany these displaced Ukrainians to more permanent housing, to employment and to learning the language.
It is therefore the instructions that I will give to the government that we can move on to a new stage
, ”assures the Prime Minister
.

No timetable or details on this new stage which will take time.
Elisabeth Borne plans to talk about it soon with the presidents of the Senate, the Assembly and the political groups in Parliament.
