As the agency points out, the bill was also supported by the State Duma Committee on Defense.

Earlier, State Duma Speaker Vyacheslav Volodin said that Russian President Vladimir Putin submitted a draft to the State Duma to suspend participation in the New START Treaty.

According to him, the State Duma deputies will consider the relevant document on February 22.

Later, Vice Speaker of the Federation Council Konstantin Kosachev confirmed the information that the Federation Council would consider a law on the suspension of Russia's participation in the START following the State Duma on February 22.

On February 21, Russian leader Vladimir Putin announced that Russia was suspending its participation in the Strategic Arms Reduction Treaty.
