This was stated by the press secretary of the President of Russia Dmitry Peskov.
“Everything will depend on the position of the West.
Putin clearly outlined what worries us, ”he said.
The Kremlin spokesman noted that the first reaction of the West to the suspension of Russia's participation in the START does not give reason to hope for some kind of readiness for dialogue or negotiations.
It is important for Russia to maintain a patient approach while waiting for opponents to "ripen for a normal dialogue," he concluded.
On February 21, Russian leader Vladimir Putin announced that Russia was suspending its participation in the Strategic Arms Reduction Treaty.
Moscow does not withdraw from the agreement, namely, it suspends its participation, the President noted.
The State Duma has already adopted the president's bill.
