Which came first? Humor or magic? When I was little I liked both.

When I saw Juan Tamaríz, he would make me gawk at the television and I would get very close to the screen, not to see the trick, but so that more magic would enter my eyes.

So as not to distract me.

The same thing happened to me when I saw Miguel Gila.

He approached me so as not to miss a detail. What magical memory marked him? He would have been about 8 years old.

I went to the movies with my uncle, and at the end of the film, seeing the credits, I asked him: 'What do those letters say?'

and he told me that they are the names of those who have made the film.

Until then I thought that cinema, humor, or any artistic manifestation were magic, just like rivers or mountains.

Something to go through and enjoy.

That stirred something inside me and I thought:'

Maybe I want to be one of those who do that magic'. But what did he do first, magic or humor? Magic.

It is very difficult to do a comedy show at 12 years old.

A deck is available to anyone and 90% of the magic is in it.

I believe, however, that at that age he was a good humorous critic. Do you have any references? Precisely at that time, a course by Juan Tamariz made with perverse intelligence fell into my hands.

As if to inject a little boy with the poison of magic.

With that Juan left me enchanted and taught me to love magic.

Over time I fell in love with his humorous skills. But, what is his background? When I had to choose a career my father told me: 'Study whatever you want... Economics, or business...' I told him: 'I'm going to do journalism like Pedro J. Ramírez who dresses like a banker'

and my father thought it was great.

So, at the University of Navarra, I studied journalism trying to specialize in screenplay, he became a screenwriter.

What was the magic and humor? I continued with magic, always with a touch of humor, but more as a hobby.

In addition, when I moved to Madrid I started working as a scriptwriter for an unknown El Club de la Comedia, without thinking that I would also end up participating in a contest organized by the program due to the lack of people in the casting...Magic contest? with humor? No.

Of monologues.

Although I did add a touch of humor to that presentation, of course, with the surprise, in addition, that I was the winner and the prize was to continue being one of the stand-up stand-ups on the show. How were those first stand-ups? My stand-ups became known to be unusual.

Were,

by the way, very naive and infrequent.

That's how I became a little bit famous But has it become famous in other fields as well? I worked in Los Angeles for a year as a screenwriter.

I went on the radio with We are nobody with the same team as El Hormiguero.

Together with Rodrigo Sopeña, I directed Fermat's Room, and I continue with the monologues. And, the magic?

Because humor is part of your job... With Jorge Blass we created Nada here and at El Hormiguero we do magic tricks with all the famous people who pass by. Do you wink at your shows? I don't usually mix them explicitly.

Although I apply things from magic to the writings of the shows and that is perceived on stage.

Each text, each paragraph, each story is built with the structure of a trick.

How magical is It's My Word Against Mine?

His current monologue is the best text I've ever done.

In this I have applied everything I have learned as a screenwriter, magician and stand-up artist during the more than 20 years of my career.

I think this is my funniest and most complete show. How amazing has Madrid been for you? Many don't know it, but Madrid is one of the capitals of magic.

Magicians from all over the world gather here.

They asked Dereck Delgaudio, a great American magician, what you have to do to be the best magician in the world.

His response was: 'kill all the Spaniards'.
