Plagiarism is the most common basis for disciplinary action at Sweden's universities, and cases have increased since the corona pandemic, when many educations were digitized.

In most cases, it is not about deliberate cheating, but rather that there is an ignorance on the part of the students about what is allowed and what is not.

Many of the students who are suspected of plagiarism have referenced or quoted a source without attribution.

Now a new course is starting at Umeå University to reduce plagiarism.

- Most of the cases we see are unintentional and for them we have zero vision, says Satish Strömberg, digital educator who was involved in developing the training.
