Tate County Sheriff Brad Lance said police received the first call around 11 a.m. ET when the suspect parked his car in the parking lot of a store, CNN reported. Then he shot at the car next to him and killed the driver.
The gunman then drove to his ex-wife's home and shot her dead.
On a trail near the shooter's home, police found two men who had been shot dead.
In another residence adjacent to the shooter's home, police found two other victims, a man and a woman.
At present, the gunman has been arrested and identified as a man in his 50s, but his motive for the crime is still unclear.
CNN also stated that the shooter will face charges of first-degree murder.
According to Reuters, US President Biden condemned the shooting and expressed condolences for the victims.
He also urged Congress to implement gun controls, including measures such as background checks.
