The European-Mediterranean Seismological Center said that an earthquake measuring 5.2 on the Richter scale struck Saturday evening in Kahramanmaraş, south-central Turkey.

The center said that the new tremor occurred 54 km northwest of the city of Kahramanmaraş, at a depth of 10 km.

There were no reports of injuries or damage.

For its part, the Earthquake Research Institute at the Turkish Bosphorus University estimated the strength of the new earthquake at 5.3 degrees on the Richter scale.

And after the double earthquake that struck southern Turkey and northwestern Syria at dawn on February 6, with its epicenter also in Kahramanmaraş, more than 4,000 aftershocks were recorded.

So far, this earthquake has killed more than 40,000 people in Turkey and about 6,000 people in Syria, and it is the largest disaster of its kind in Turkey's history in 100 years.
