- It's very exciting for me and an important opportunity to talk to a minister and say what all of us Ukrainians feel, says Nataliya Starchenko, who fled Ukraine and is now vice president of the association.

Refugees from Ukraine are not entitled to SFI according to the EU's mass migration directive.

The Ukrainian association in Vänersborg therefore started a petition demanding the government to allow Ukrainians to read SFI.

"Wouldn't you believe"

After receiving close to 400 signatures, they received a letter inviting them to a meeting with Labor Market and Integration Minister Johan Pehrson (L).

The meeting will take place on Friday together with several other associations that have also been invited.

- When you started this petition, you didn't think that you would get a response.

So we are happy that we get the opportunity to come and give our perspective, says Ulrika Liljegren, who chairs the Ukrainian Association in Vänersborg.
