Some children with dyslexia or attention deficit disorder find themselves in difficulty in their school career.

Faced with this, in "Bienfait pour vous", the psychologist Jeanne-Siaud-Facchin and the vice-world champion of speed reading Mohamed Boclet, himself suffering from dyslexia, give some advice to these students to succeed in school.

Dyslexia, dyspraxia, attention disorder… Can children with learning difficulties succeed?

Guests of the program

Bienfait pour vous

, Jeanne-Siaud Facchin, psychologist, and Mohamed Boclet, dyslexic and vice-world champion in speed reading, present several tips to enable these students to be able to succeed in their school career.

For them, it is not impossible to have a great career despite these illnesses.

This is the case of Albert Einstein, Steve Jobs or even Pierre Lemaitre, a great dyspraxic who is today a tenor of literature.

The importance of healthy living

For Mohamed Boclet, intelligence is considered a sport and the brain a muscle.

"So the brain is not a muscle but it can be muscled, that is to say, we must work it like a person who goes to the gym every day", specifies the author of

Unlimited knowledge

.

According to him, by doing these exercises, the brain will be more stimulated, which will promote neural patterns as well as connections in information.

"Like a top athlete, the student must have a certain lifestyle. You also have to work on food, sleep and lots of alternative solutions, in addition to learning techniques. By getting your brain used to do things, we will get him used to learning and reading, which will promote learning”, he underlines at the microphone of Julia Vignali and Mélanie Gomez.

Work on the breath

What advice should you give to students taking a diploma (baccalauréat, patent, etc.) so that they don't stress too much?

"We can work on breathing, therefore cardiac coherence, to reduce the level of cortisol", specifies Mohamed Boclet.

For him, working on his breathing, during or before exams, allows him to obtain better results.

"My sister is a teacher and before each check-up, she has her CP students do heart coherence. She realizes that the children get better results, simply because it makes them work on breathing".

Let children develop their own resources

Faced with Mohamed Boclet's advice on breathing, Jeanne-Siaud Facchin insists on the importance of the setting.

"Everyone must be able to know what framework they need. We do not all need the same framework. Each child must know what makes them feel good and what will allow them to face an ordeal with the greatest possible serenity by feeling solid inside”, details the psychologist.

For her, there should be no hesitation in letting children develop their own resources, such as listening to music or moving around, all of which could make a difference.

"It's not because the parent finds it a little strange that it doesn't do the child good. If for him it's important and he feels that it's

Foster encouragement

In children who have learning difficulties, emotions are at the heart of everything.

The more their environment is encouraging, the more these children will progress.

"The child feels a form of pride, a form of pleasure in having overcome a difficulty. It is a pride shared with the parents where self-confidence is a healthy breeding ground. I think it is very important to be encouraged", insists Jeanne-Siaud Facchin.

Faced with this, the psychologist takes the time to warn about the learning mechanisms.

"I am flabbergasted that they are not explained to children because it seems to me that this would open up new paths where the child would feel at the heart of the process and not subject to a system which he does not understand at all", concludes -She.
