Chinanews.com, Hong Kong, February 16th. The Hong Kong Airport Authority (AA) and the People's Government of Dongguan City, Guangdong Province signed the "Cooperation on the "Dongguan-Hong Kong International Airport Logistics Park and Airside Sea-Air Combined Transport Terminal" project on the 16th. "Framework Agreement" (Framework Agreement) to implement and promote the long-term development of the "sea-air cargo combined transport" model between the two places.

It is reported that the framework agreement was signed in Hong Kong by Lin Tianfu, Chief Executive Officer of the Airport Authority, and Lu Chengqi, Mayor of Dongguan Municipal People's Government, and by Lin Shixiong, Director of the Transport and Logistics Bureau of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region Government, Liu Guangbin, Member of the Standing Committee of the Dongguan Municipal Committee and Deputy Mayor of Dongguan Municipal People's Government, The signing ceremony was witnessed by Yan Jizong, Secretary-General of Dongguan Municipal People's Government, and Su Zeguang, Chairman of the AA.

Lin Shixiong said that Hong Kong International Airport, as the busiest cargo airport in the world, has always been the main gateway for the import and export of air cargo in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area.

The signing of a framework agreement between the Airport Authority and the Dongguan Municipal Government will help to further strengthen the cooperation between the two parties in cargo services, and will surely increase the cargo handling capacity of the "sea-air cargo intermodal transport" between Hong Kong and Dongguan, allowing more cargo to enter and exit the metropolitan area through Hong Kong. The Bay Area will consolidate Hong Kong's status as an international aviation hub while enhancing the overall competitiveness of the Greater Bay Area.

According to reports, under the "sea-air cargo combined transport" model, the AA will establish an upstream "Hong Kong International Airport Logistics Park" in Dongguan and an "airside sea-air combined cargo terminal" in the airside control area of Hong Kong International Airport.

Mainland export goods can be pre-completed in the upstream logistics park for aviation security inspection, packing or boarding and receiving, and then seamlessly transported to the cargo terminal at the airside of Hong Kong International Airport in a manner that meets the security requirements of Hong Kong air cargo , without repeating the security check procedure, it can be directly transported to all parts of the world.

Foreign air cargo can also be imported into the mainland via Hong Kong by using the above-mentioned reverse route.

The relevant pilot scheme has been launched in late 2021 and has been operating smoothly.
