According to the EU Observer, the new EU sanctions "are designed to weaken the Russian military machine."

Brussels also intends to impose a ban on the export of high-tech goods that "can be used in Russian weapons systems."

The trade embargo is expected to cost €11 billion a year.

It will include "electronics, lasers, radio equipment, software, avionics, marine cameras and rare earth minerals," the newspaper writes.

The head of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen, has previously proposed a tenth package of sanctions with €11 billion in trade bans.

Polish Ambassador to the European Union Andrzej Sados noted that Warsaw is disappointed with the preliminary tenth package of EU sanctions against Russia.
