In order to abolish the health insurance card next fall and integrate it with the My Number card, the government will issue an expiration date for the "certificate of eligibility" that will allow people who have lost their cards to receive medical treatment covered by insurance. We have decided to set a policy of not asking for an issuance fee within one year from the date of issue.

The government plans to abolish the health insurance card currently in use next fall and integrate it with the My Number card. We are planning to provide a “certificate of eligibility” that contains information on the insurance card so that you can receive it.

On the 16th, Prime Minister Kishida and Minister of Health, Labor and Welfare Kato and others discussed the handling of the "certificate of qualification" at the Prime Minister's official residence.

As a result, we decided that it is a natural right for people who pay insurance premiums to be able to receive medical treatment covered by insurance, so we decided not to ask for a fee when issuing it.

The certificate shall be valid for one year from the date of issuance.

We also confirmed that the current health insurance card will be valid for one year from the date of abolition.

The government has decided to submit a bill incorporating these contents to the current ordinary session of the Diet.
