Since 2020, Karlskrona municipality is investing in camera surveillance of several of the municipality's schools.

The camera surveillance started at Sunnadalskolan because there was extensive damage in the form of broken walls, graffiti and broken windows.

An evaluation has now been carried out, which shows that vandalism at Sunnadalsskolan has decreased by 70 percent since the camera surveillance was introduced.

More schools on the way

- It is gratifying that the damage has decreased so sharply.

But it's also important to point out that it's not just because of the cameras.

A lot of other efforts have also been made together with the school, the municipality's field group, the police and property owners, says Anders Wiklander, head of security at Karlskrona municipality, in a press release.

In Karlskrona municipality, in addition to Sunnadal school, there is also camera surveillance at Jämjö knowledge center, Lyckeby knowledge center and Fischerströmska and Törnströmska high schools.

There are also plans to introduce surveillance at Rödeby School.
