The American investigative journalist, Pulitzer Prize winner Seymour Hersh said that the head of the White House, Joe Biden, planned to blow up Nord Stream in June 2022, but he was “nervous” and postponed the implementation of these plans to a later date.

“Yes, they did it at the end of the exercises (NATO exercises Baltops 22. -

).

But at the last moment, the White House became nervous.

The President said he was afraid to do so.

He changed his mind and issued new decrees, making it possible to remotely detonate bombs at any time, ”Hersh said in an interview with the Berliner Zeitung newspaper.

According to the journalist, Biden ordered the gas pipelines to be blown up later in September.

Speaking about the reasons for the White House's decision to blow up Nord Stream, Hersh recalled that Berlin made the decision to stop the project.

Nord Stream 2 was suspended by Germany itself, not by international sanctions, and the US feared that Germany would lift sanctions due to the cold winter,” the journalist said.

At the same time, he drew attention to the fact that the US president “would rather see Germany freeze than that Germany might stop supporting Ukraine.”

Recall that earlier in February, Hersh published an article in which he stated that divers from the United States had mined Nord Stream.

The journalist’s material posted on the Substack platform stated that the divers were operating under the cover of the BALTOPS 22 exercise, which took place in the Baltic Sea from June 5 to 17, 2022.

The direct detonation, Hersh wrote, was carried out by the Norwegian Navy in September 2022.

According to the journalist, a reconnaissance aircraft of the Norwegian Air Force during the flight dropped a sonar buoy, the signal from which spread under water.

After that, according to Hersh, the explosive charges planted on the gas lines detonated.

In Russia, after the publication of this material, they called for the use of the information received by the journalist in the framework of an international investigation.

The Chinese Foreign Ministry also called on Washington to explain itself to the world community, noting the conclusions of an investigation by an American journalist about undermining the Nord Stream.

Subsequently, Hersh commented on his article, saying that there was nothing unexpected in Washington's blowing up of the Nord Stream gas pipelines.

In an interview with Radio War Nerd, he recalled that Biden warned Russia back in February about the intentions of the United States to do so in the event of a conflict in Ukraine.

According to the journalist, the American leadership saw Russian gas as a weapon that Moscow could use.

At the same time, Hersh called the Nord Stream bombing "an amazing level of stupidity on the part of the White House and the president."

Hersh also mentioned that US pipeline companies "know what happened."

According to the journalist, "the last thing they want is to get on the pages of newspapers," but they are well aware of "who did what."

Note that experts call for considering the undermining of the Nord Streams as an attempt to destroy relations between Moscow and Berlin.

In particular, this point of view was expressed by former CIA agent Philip Geraldi in an interview with the Judging Freedom YouTube channel.

According to him, "anyone who considers what happened not as an act of war and a terrorist attack, but something else, is in the thrall of illusions."

“If the United States really believed in the free market, they would have found a way to sell energy to Western Europe at a lower price, and would not have destroyed, undermined relations between Russia and Germany,” said a former CIA agent.

Federation Council - on an independent investigation

Meanwhile, the Federation Council suggested contacting the Russian Foreign Ministry and initiating an independent international investigation into the explosion of the Nord Stream gas pipelines using the evidence provided by Seymour Hersh.

This proposal was made by Grigory Karasin, Chairman of the Federation Council Committee on International Affairs.

He noted that the data presented in the investigation "once again showed the desire of the United States to dictate its will to the countries of Europe and the whole world."

According to the senator, the policy chosen by the United States poses a danger to the entire existing world order.

The initiative to conduct an investigation was supported by the Chairman of the Federation Council Valentina Matvienko.

According to her, we are talking about a "blatant act of state terrorism" that needs to be investigated.
