• Housing The Court of Barcelona orders to impute Ada Colau for coercion to an investment fund for not offering social rentals

  • Mossos Tension and police charges in the eviction in a squatted house in Barcelona

The mayoress of Barcelona,

Ada Colau

, will have to sit before the judge two and a half months before the next municipal elections.

The mayor has been summoned as being investigated, on March 13, for alleged prevarication, embezzlement and coercion of the investment fund

Vauras Investment

to offer

apartments owned by her that were squatted by vulnerable families for social

rental .

The mayoress herself announced this today at a press conference, in which she detailed that the councilor for Housing, Lucía Martín

, the councilor for Sants district and for Citizen Rights

must also appear in court three days before her.

,

Marc Serra

, and a municipal official.

The Court of Barcelona ordered last April to reopen this case, after it had been dismissed by the judge for lack of evidence and attributing crimes "without rigor or precision."

The Vauras fund had sued in 2020 against charges from the municipal government for the sanction filed by the City Council for failing to comply with the regional law that orders to offer social rentals to people "at risk of residential exclusion".

One of the Vauras properties was known as

the Llavors Block

, which after several previous attempts was definitively evicted, in May 2021, by the Mossos d'Esquadra in an operation in which there were police charges and in which CUP

deputies

they were present in the front line of the protest of the activist groups.

Colau has attributed this cause to the "same pattern" of other lawsuits filed against his team by large companies that "in misuse" of Justice "seek big headlines and the image of the mayoress declaring before the judge and later end up filed."
