From February 13 to 17, the Indian city of Bangalore will host the 14th international aerospace exhibition Aero India 2023. The Russian exposition is organized by Rosoboronexport (part of Rostec).

In total, Russia will present about 200 samples of military equipment in India.

Delegations of leading Russian enterprises will also work at Aero India.

“The Russian exposition traditionally stands out for its scale and volume of products for the air force and air defense.

The exhibition gives us an excellent opportunity to show modern Russian-made samples and discuss areas for further bilateral cooperation with India,” said Alexander Mikheev, General Director of Rosoboronexport.

He added that the military-technical cooperation between Russia and India is an example of an industrial partnership with many finalized and ongoing joint projects for all branches of the armed forces.

“Today we offer new points of interaction in the framework of the joint development and production of high-tech products based on Indian enterprises as part of the Make in India national program in compliance with all requirements for localization and technology transfer,” Mikheev said.

"High Combat Capabilities"

Russian military aviation will be represented at the exhibition by such already well-established models as the Il-76MD-90A(E) military transport aircraft, the Il-78MK-90A tanker aircraft and the Su-35 and Su-30SME super-maneuverable fighters.

Among the latest developments of the domestic military-industrial complex, the MiG-35D multifunctional front-line fighter, created on the basis of the MiG-29, will be shown at the exhibition.

“This is our classic set.

It is worth noting that the Su-35 and Su-30SM perform well in a special military operation, demonstrating high combat capabilities in real battles, ”military expert Dmitry Drozdenko said in an interview with RT.

In turn, retired Major General Vladimir Popov, Honored Military Pilot of the Russian Federation, believes that the Su-35 and Su-30SM are not inferior to fifth-generation machines in a number of indicators.

“These fighters are absolutely comparable in terms of their performance characteristics with fifth-generation aircraft.

At the same time, they are many times cheaper, ”the analyst said in a conversation with RT.

However, according to experts, the guests of Aero India 2023 will be most interested in the latest Russian fifth-generation fighters Su-57 and Checkmate, which will also take part in the review.

The Su-57 will be presented at the exhibition in the export version of the Su-57E.

This aircraft is made using stealth technology, has a supersonic cruising flight speed and is equipped with the latest on-board equipment.

As Yury Slyusar, head of the United Aircraft Corporation (UAC), said at the end of 2022, the company has already entered high-volume production of the Su-57.

Moreover, this fighter has already been used during a special operation in Ukraine and, as the military says, has managed to prove itself well.

In August 2022, Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu called the results of the use of the Su-57 in real combat conditions "brilliant".

“We have used and are using the Su-57 aircraft.

This plane performed brilliantly.

The aircraft has a very high degree of protection against various air defense systems, it has protection against missiles ... The most important thing is very, very powerful weapons.

We also tried this weapon, checked it, it works brilliantly, I can’t find another word here, ”Shoigu said.

A similar assessment of the Su-57 in October last year was given by the commander-in-chief of the Russian Aerospace Forces, General of the Army Sergei Surovikin, who at that time held the position of commander of the combined group of troops in the area of the special operation.

“In terms of the quality of combat use, I would especially like to single out the Su-57 fifth-generation multifunctional aircraft.

Having a wide range of weapons, in each flight it solves multifaceted tasks of hitting air and ground targets, ”he said.

The Checkmate light tactical aircraft is a newer project, its development has not yet been completed.

It was presented to the public for the first time at the International Aviation and Space Salon (MAKS-2021).

The characteristics of the Checkmate, or Su-75 as it is often called, have not yet been disclosed.

It is known that, unlike the Su-57, it is equipped with one engine.

In addition, at the presentation it was stated that the speed of the fighter would reach Mach 1.8, and the maximum flight range without external fuel tanks would be at least 2.8 thousand km.

In addition, Rostec highlights such advantages of this project as stealth, low cost per flight hour, open architecture and high performance in terms of the cost-effectiveness criterion.

UAC is also working on an unmanned version of the Checkmate.

“If the Su-57 is a machine that already exists in metal, then the development of Checkmate has not yet been completed.

But if we consider the export prospects of these aircraft, then Checkmate may have them higher due to their lower potential cost, ”military expert Dmitry Drozdenko said in an interview with RT.

"Big money and technology"

In addition to aircraft, export versions of the Ka-52, Mi-28N and Mi-8AMTSh helicopters (Mi-171Sh in the export version) will be presented at the exhibition.

These machines are also actively used in NWO.

In addition, the Ka-226T light multi-purpose helicopter will be demonstrated in India.

Its production can be opened on the basis of the joint venture Indo-Russian Helicopters Limited with the participation of Russian and Indian industrial companies.

Aero India 2023 guests will also be shown Russian developments in the field of unmanned aircraft.

“Visitors of the Rosoboronexport booth are invited to get acquainted with Russian unmanned aerial vehicles: reconnaissance and strike Orion-E, reconnaissance Orlan-10E and Orlan-30 - a novelty of 2022,” the press center of Rosoboronexport reported. .

In addition, Russia will demonstrate a wide range of air defense systems in India.

According to Rosoboronexport, this segment will feature the S-350E Vityaz anti-aircraft missile system, Viking, Tor-M2KM, Tor-M2E anti-aircraft missile systems, Pantsir-S1 anti-aircraft missile and gun system ”, as well as portable anti-aircraft missile systems “Igla-S” and “Verba”.

Also, visitors to the exhibition will be shown Russian means of combating unmanned aerial vehicles, including the Repellent, RLK-MTSE, RB-504P-E and RB-504A-E complexes.

According to analysts, today Russia is a leader in the development of air defense systems.

“In the field of air defense, today Russia is not just one of the leaders in the world, but a leader.

There are no analogues to our multi-level air defense systems anywhere.

These technologies have been developed since Soviet times.

As long as we are ahead of the rest, neither the Americans nor the Chinese can catch up with us,” says Dmitry Drozdenko.

In turn, Vladimir Popov noted that the advantage of Russian equipment on the arms market is the successful experience of its use in battles.

“Real application, practice are the criteria of truth.

What is shown in the demonstrations is one thing.

It’s completely different when the car is tested in real combat conditions, ”said the specialist.

The experts also noted the importance of the participation of Russian companies in such exhibitions as Aero India 2023.

“The arms market is a lot of money and technology.

Such international exhibitions allow companies to find potential customers.

The key factor in the field of arms production, as in other industries, is the volume of production.

The larger the series, the higher the economic indicator, the more funds remain for the development of new samples, so any country, any enterprise is interested in selling their products for export, ”concluded the analyst.
