Hear Sven Jinton, spokesperson for the group, in the clip above.

In November, it became clear that Karlskronahem requested an increase in rents of 8.3 percent until 2023. Something that the Tenants' Association did not agree to.

Despite negotiations, they did not agree on a solution and right now both parties are awaiting a decision from the Rental Market Committee.

The action group Freeze the rent demands that Karlskronahem freeze the rent and let it remain at the same level as in 2022. Sven Jinton, spokesperson for Freeze the rent, hopes that their protests will have an effect.

- Many of the tenants do not have very high incomes.

Some are pensioners and others are low-income earners and then it is difficult to get the money to go together with everything else that is also rising in price, says Sven Jinton.

May take several more weeks

During Wednesday, Sven Jinton and others from the group will submit the collection of names to the municipality.

Karlskronahem's chairman Börje Dovstad believes that it will take several more weeks before the new rents are ready.

Otherwise, he does not want to comment on the initiative from the action group.

Last week it was announced that the rents for 2023 were ready in Olofström, Ronneby and Sölvesborg.

In Karlshamn, just like in Karlskrona, they have not yet agreed on the new rents.
