Germany announced on Monday its position on the possibility of providing Kiev with military fighters, while an important meeting of the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) is awaiting in Brussels to discuss military support for Ukraine.

And German Foreign Minister Analina Berbock confirmed that supplying Ukraine with combat aircraft is out of the question for the German government at the present time.

These statements came to the politician belonging to the Green Party on Monday evening in the Finnish capital, Helsinki, ahead of Western consultations on supplying Ukraine with more weapons.

It should be noted that defense ministers and military officials of Western countries will hold a new meeting in Brussels on Tuesday in the framework of what is known as the "Ramstein" formula, and Ukrainian Defense Minister Oleksiy Reznikov is expected to attend this meeting.

Germany is trying to create an alliance to supply Ukraine with "Leopard 2" combat tanks, and the German government has pledged to supply Kiev with 14 of these tanks.

For his part, Finnish Foreign Minister Pekka Haavisto said following his meeting with Birbock that his country's government had not yet decided whether it would participate in the Tank Alliance.

Berbock reiterated that the success in supplying such heavy weapons in partnership with other countries is of great importance to them.

Several NATO countries, as well as NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg, have expressed no objection to supplying Ukraine with fighter jets, and this matter could be on the table at Tuesday's meeting in Brussels.

Ukrainian use of ammunition

In a related context, NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg said that the Ukrainian army consumes much more ammunition than those produced by member states.

Stoltenberg added, during a press conference on the eve of a meeting of defense ministers of the NATO countries to discuss military support for Ukraine, to be held in the Belgian capital, Brussels, and to last for two days, that "the current pace of the use of ammunition in Ukraine is much greater than the current pace of our production," warning that this situation exposes the defense industries of other countries. Pact "to pressure".

He stressed that the current situation of the war in Ukraine is a "challenge", pointing out that the large use of ammunition is a "problem".

It is noteworthy that the issue of the increasing use of weapons and ammunition will be on the table for discussion, during the meetings of NATO defense ministers, on Tuesday in Brussels, with the approaching anniversary of the start of the Russian war against Ukraine on February 24, 2022.

And European media sources indicated that NATO "has begun to take measures to increase production in the short and medium term."

In a related matter, Stoltenberg said that the "big" Russian attack - which was feared to take place in Ukraine - had already begun, almost a year after the start of the war.

While Washington advised its citizens to leave Russia, Ukraine said the situation in Bakhmut was complicated.

"We don't see anything at all that President (Vladimir) Putin is ready for peace," Stoltenberg said. "What we see is that President Putin and Russia still want to control Ukraine."

Rapid developments in Bakhmut

In the latest field developments, Ukraine recognized on Monday a "complicated" situation north of Bakhmut, the epicenter of battles in the east of the country, as the Russian army announced control of a new town, continuing its attempts to surround this strategic city in the Donbass region.

Bakhmut, which had a population of 70,000 before the war, was largely destroyed in more than six months of fighting.

And the Ukrainian presidency acknowledged on Monday that the situation is "complicated" in the town of Paraskovivka, south of Solidar, 10 km from the center of Bakhmut, "which is subject to intense Russian bombing and attacks."

For its part, the Russian army announced the seizure of the town of Krasna Gora near Paraskovivka.

He stated that "offensive units of volunteers, with the support of artillery from the southern group, liberated the town."
