Will the widespread spread of laptop computers eliminate their desktop counterpart?

Do these small folded devices meet all the needs of the user?

Or that desktop computers have not lost their luster yet, and some users are still clinging to them because they have something that is not in the laptop?

"It is clear that laptops currently dominate the computer market, to the extent that they make up three-quarters of new devices," says Sven Schultz of the German magazine "Computer Bild".

The German expert explained that the reason for this is that laptop computers are the most comfortable for many users, and despite that, desktop computers have not lost their luster yet, and they cannot be viewed as obsolete devices.

For his part, Matthias Wellendorf, from the German magazine "Inside Digital D", says that desktop computers represent more than just huge computing boxes, as they are now available in new types of appropriate sizes and elegant interfaces.

Matthias Willendorf adds that desktop computers are of particular interest to users who need large computing power or to upgrade the characteristics of their own computer.

As for Wolfgang Pauler of the specialized German magazine "Chip", he believes that "gamers usually rely on desktop computers, as well as users who prefer computers with more efficiency and less noise."

Bowler attributed the reason for this to the fact that desktop computers are not exposed to excessive heat, as is the case in laptop computers, as the first is larger, allowing the possibility of installing large fans in it, which reduce the temperature to obtain the same cooling performance as the small fans installed in laptops.

"Fast processors generate more heat, and graphics cards need 300 watts of power or more, and there is not enough space for all of that in thin computers," Schultz added.

gear upgrade

In addition to the easier cooling function, desktop computers have the advantage of swapping chips, or what is known as upgrading certain parts of the computer, a feature that is not available in laptop computers.

Since the processors are not installed via sockets, and therefore cannot be replaced, in addition to that many components are part of the motherboard and cannot be separated from it.

RAM cannot be expanded or replaced in laptops, and even if it is possible in some cases, it needs experienced users as well as the support of professional technicians.

Desktop computers usually have a clear advantage in terms of upgrading their parts, as the user can easily change the RAM chips.

Wellendorf adds, "It is also easy for the user to increase the number of hard disks in desktop computers."

In addition, desktop computers are usually very flexible with regard to connectivity ports, and we can use peripherals such as keyboard, mouse, printer, scanner, and two monitors with them.

Also, desktop computers can provide more USB ports, which can be used to charge mobile phones and store data on memory sticks or external hard drives.

cheaper cost

Desktop computers can be used as servers for media files to store photos, music and movies, in addition to their low prices, as the average price difference between a mid-range laptop and a traditional mid-range desktop computer may reach about $200.

In addition, the user may need additional costs to purchase an external monitor, if the size of the laptop is not sufficient to carry out daily work tasks.

On that, Schultz says, "Mobile screens still come in 15.6 inches, while desktop screens range from 24 to 28 inches."

There are some types in which the desktop computer occupies less space on the desktop than laptop computers, especially when using an external monitor and peripherals.

Where the user can hide the desktop computer under the office table.

In general, it is not possible to abandon desktop computers in rooms, offices or game halls, because they are characterized by the appropriate cost and ease of maintenance, and therefore it is not expected that this type of computers will disappear at all.
