Göring-Eckardt believes that "peace cannot be imposed and the mistakes of 2014 cannot be repeated."

According to TASS, the authors of the Manifesto for Peace initiative, which calls for a desire to resolve the conflict in Ukraine through diplomacy, and not by supplying weapons, were Bundestag deputy Sarah Wagenknecht and journalist and human rights activist Alisa Schwarzer.

The initiative was supported by 69 well-known politicians, journalists, cultural figures, scientists and businessmen of Germany.
