On February 10, local time, the Brazilian Federal Police once again cracked down on illegal gold mining activities in the Yanomami region in the north of the country.

The first purpose of this operation is to destroy the facilities and equipment of illegal mining personnel, and the second is to collect criminal evidence.

In addition, on the 10th, the Fourth Criminal Court of the Federal Court in the state of Roraima also issued 8 arrest warrants, seizure warrants and asset freezing orders aimed at cracking down on money laundering groups in the illegal gold mining chain.

Data show that since 2018, illegal gold mining activities in the Yanomami Aboriginal settlements have increased rapidly.
