Hear how the Tenants Association and Kungälvsbostäder view the dispute in the clip above.

Stiftelsen Kungälvsbostäder is Kungälv's largest landlord with just over 2,800 apartments.

This year, the utility company wants to raise the rent by 6.8 percent.

Hans Kristensson.

- It is the cost increases in 2022 that are the basis for that, says Hans Kristensson, business developer at Kungälvsbostäder.

Criticism of the rent increase

6.8 percent in rent increase thinks the Tenants Association, which negotiates with Kungälvsbostäder about the rent, is far too much.

The negotiation with the Tenants' Association has now been cancelled.

Kungälvsbostäder has instead chosen to take the dispute to the Rental Market Committee.

And that's what more people have done.

SVT Nyheter Väst has previously told about the negotiation that was interrupted by the municipal housing company Förbo.

In total, there are ten negotiations in Västra Götaland that have gone to the Rental Market Committee, according to the Tenants' Association.

"Highest listing"

The rental market committee mediates and tries disputes in connection with the annual rent negotiations.

This year, they have already received around 60 cases.

- It is the highest listing we have seen so far, says Håkan Larsson, chief economist at Sweden's Allmännytta.

The rental market committee consists of two members from Sweden's Allmännytta and two members from the Tenants' Association.

Håkan Larsson sits as one of the members of Sweden's Allmännytta.

In order to deal with all disputes, the Rental Market Committee has been forced to hold more frequent meetings.

- We try to dispose of the cases as quickly as possible, says Håkan Larsson

In the clip below, Håkan Larsson explains why there are so many disputes this year.
