This, according to RIA Novosti, Putin said during a meeting with the secretaries of the security councils of various countries on the Afghan issue.

Putin pointed to the presence of conflict potential in the world, including in the Ukrainian direction.

“But this does not reduce the significance of the situation in Afghanistan,” the Russian leader stressed.

The head of state noted that Russia does not want tense situations at its southern borders.

Earlier, Secretary of the Russian Security Council Nikolai Patrushev said that the situation in Afghanistan today is rapidly degrading, and the country's authorities are reaping the fruits of the chaos left by the United States.
