The Liberal Democratic Party (LDP) is seeking to revise the phrase "discrimination is unacceptable," which some members of the party are opposed to, regarding legislator legislation to promote understanding of LGBT people. However, within the LDP, the phrase "discrimination on the grounds of 'gender identity' is unacceptable," which was included in the lawmakers' legislation bill, is said to be "a matter related to the heart of the party, and may even create divisions in society." There are some objections to this, and the party's executives are seeking to revise this wording.



On the other hand, the opposition parties have voiced their concerns that they will not be allowed to make major revisions, saying, "There is no meaning unless the word 'discrimination' is included," and the treatment of this word will be the focus.
