Burkina: two employees of Doctors Without Borders killed in an attack in the North West
The humanitarian NGO Doctors Without Borders condemns the death of two of its employees in an attack on February 8, 2023 in Burkina Faso.

A Doctors Without Borders (MSF) team was attacked in Burkina Faso on Wednesday 8 February.
The humanitarian NGO condemns the assassination of two of its Burkinabè employees and suspends its medical activities in the Boucle du Mouhoun, in the north-west of the country, where the attack took place.

According to the organization MSF, Wednesday morning February 8, on the road between Dédougou and Tougan, a team was the target of shots.
The vehicle was however clearly identified as belonging to the NGO, according to MSF.
On board was a crew of four.
Two Burkinabè employees died in the attack.
One was a driver, the other a logistics supervisor.
They were 39 and 34 respectively.
Their two colleagues survived and managed to escape.

MSF President Dr Isabelle Defourny said: “
We are shocked and outraged.
For her, it is a "
deliberate

intentional
" attack against a humanitarian team (...) "
as part of its medical mission
".

We will have to quickly exchange with all the parties to the conflict to understand what happened
,” adds Isabelle Defourny.
The Boucle du Mouhoun is a region located in western Burkina Faso, north of Bobo-Dioulasso.
It is border with Mali.
