WHO: Earthquake in Turkey and Syria affects 23 million people, including 1.4 million children

“In Syria, the level of need for humanitarian assistance is today the highest in the last 12 years of a protracted crisis,” the statement said.

At the same time, according to WHO, funding for humanitarian activities continues to decline.

Earlier, the IFRC announced more than 1.5 thousand deaths in Syria as a result of the earthquake.

The SAR Red Cross called for the removal of sanctions from Damascus to eliminate the consequences of the earthquake.
