The National Police has opened an investigation after the

complaints presented by three students from the University of León

(ULe) who reside in the San Isidoro residence hall in which they affirm that they have been victims of sexual abuse, as reported this Monday by the Rectorate of the academic institution.

The Rectorate, in a statement, has reported that it has agreed to the respective opening of disciplinary files in order to

find out internally what happened

in accordance with the recent Law 3/2022, of February 24, on University Coexistence.

"Since the corresponding complaint has been filed by the residents allegedly affected before the National Police, the ULe, as established in article 8.4 of the aforementioned Law 3/2022, has proceeded to send the internal disciplinary procedure to the Prosecutor's Office", and has requested that this University be informed so that the actions determined can be adopted, he adds in his letter.

It adds that since the facts became known, the Chancellor's Office, the Office of the Vice-Chancellor for Students and Employment, the residence hall management, the University Community Ombudsman's Office and the Equality Unit "have

worked in a coordinated manner

to adopt all the necessary measures both for the

protection of the complainants

and for the adequate respect of the rights of all the intervening parties".

According to sources of the investigation,

the alleged abuses occurred in June and December 2022 and in January of this year.
