Virginie Girod SEASON 2022 - 202305h00, February 07, 2023

Listen to the rest of the story of Madame de Maintenon, the last favorite of King Louis XIV, told by historian Virginie Girod, in an unpublished story in two episodes.

The one who is nicknamed “the beautiful Indian” because she lived in the West Indies made a name for herself in Parisian high society by marrying the poet Paul Scarron.

Madame de Montespan, who was then the favorite of Louis XIV, then entrusted her with the education of the children she had had with the Sun King.

Becoming the governess of their legitimized children, this function allowed her to frequent the court and rub shoulders with the sovereign… Soon, the marquise would marry Louis XIV, a secret marriage, which would not allow her to attain the status of queen.
