• BUDGETS Illa endorses a "sovereign Catalonia" and the "own State" in her budgets with ERC

  • ACCOUNTS The ERC and PSC budgets trigger spending in the pro-independence structure

The public financing of the pan-Catalan entities that work for the imposition of Catalan and the cornering of Castilian in Catalonia, Valencia and the Balearic Islands is shielded in the budgets of the Generalitat agreed between

Salvador Illa

and

Pere Aragonès

.

The accounts of the PSC and ERC reserve more than 2.2 million euros to subsidize the activity of the Platform for Language -the entity that spied on children at recess to check what language they spoke- and different related organizations based in the self-styled

Països Catalans

, such as Acció Cultural del País Valencià or Obra Cultural Balear, among others.

This is how it is recorded in the income and expenditure report of the Generalitat's accounts for 2023, which details even more items for this type of entity than in the 2022 budgets, agreed between ERC, Junts and the commons.

The budget project - already approved by the Government and that the Parliament will ratify on March 10 - contemplates the injection of 516,000 public euros in direct subsidies, that is, granted by finger, to the Platform for Language.

Of these, 135,000 will come from the Office of Support for Cultural Initiatives;

124,000, from the Labor Department;

120,000, from the Territory;

97,000, of Social Rights;

20,000 from Justice and another 20,000 from Education.

These 516,000 euros even exceed those delivered by the Generalitat to the so-called "Catalan NGO" in 2022. Last year's budgets only reflected an item of 135,000 euros dedicated to the Platform for Language, although in the end it would end up receiving 512,000 euros in two payments: one of 108,000 euros granted in June and another of 404,000 euros granted in December.

945,000 euros will be allocated to Acció Cultural del País Valencià, dedicated to the "promotion of their own language" in the Valencian Community, from the Illa and Aragonès Budgets, exactly the same amount that the Generalitat budgeted last year for the entity, when the socialists did not participate in the elaboration of the accounts.

Likewise, the Fundació Escola Valenciana, which oversees the "linguistic normalization, with special incidence in the Valencian educational system", will once again receive the 100,000 that it already obtained in 2022.

For its part, Obra Cultural Balear - an organization founded to "promote the language of the Balearic Islands" and "defend their right to full self-government" - will also be made again with the 30,000 euros that it already obtained in 2022.

The Fundació Sambori, which promotes Catalan among students in Catalonia, the Balearic Islands, Valencia, Andorra and France, under the coordination of Òmnium Cultural, breaks into these budgets with a 20,000 euro grant that was not foreseen in the past.

For the Amics de la Bressola foundation, which pursues schooling in Catalan in the area baptized by the independence movement as

Catalunya Nord

-administratively, the south of France-, the PSC and ERC budget 650,000 euros.

In the previous accounts, no injection of public funds had been recorded for the entity, which, however, would end up receiving the same 650,000 euros from the Generalitat through a hand-picked concession granted last July.

Spending on "promotion of the Catalan language" will increase by 25.5% in the budgets agreed between the PSC and ERC, going from 47 to 59 million euros.

It should be remembered that both the Socialists and the Republicans are part of the National Pact for Language, a project with which it is intended to delve into the so-called "linguistic normalization".
