Pinned down in the bathroom and caught in the flames.

This is how an 81-year-old woman with mobility problems died in her own home, located in Plaza Lepanto in the Valencian town of

Benetússer

.

As confirmed by sources from the Emergency Information and Coordination Center (

CICU

) and the

Provincial Fire Department Consortium

, the fire originated in this small room in the house where the woman apparently spent many hours.

According to the

Levante-EMV

newspaper , the woman suffered severe pain in her legs, which prevented her from leading a normal life.

It is for this reason that she would have chosen to seclude herself in the bathroom, where she even slept and spent long hours, since her relationship with her husband was not good either.

The overheating of a brazier with which she protected herself from the cold would have been the cause of the fire from which she could not escape.

Local Police

agents have moved to the area

, who have accessed the interior with fire extinguishers until the arrival of the firefighters -from the Consortium, from the Catarroja Park and the Torrent sergeant-, who have finished extinguishing the fire and ventilating the zone.

A SAMU unit and an SVB have also attended.

As a result of the fire, in addition to the death of the old woman, the health services have had to assist two agents who participated in extinguishing the fire, a 30-year-old woman and a 47-year-old man, due to inhalation.

Both have transferred by their means to their work mutual.

Together with them, the medical services treated an 86-year-old man for smoke inhalation and he was evacuated to

the Doctor Peset hospital

in the SVB ambulance.

The SAMU medical team has also assisted a 53-year-old woman due to an anxiety crisis.
