White House: US won't return wreckage of downed balloon to China

According to the Pentagon, the balloon was used to monitor US strategic facilities.

Chinese Vice Foreign Minister Xie Feng said that the US actions against the Chinese balloon damaged the process of stabilizing China-US relations.
