Åsa Edman from Gothenburg has previously been in contact with doctors to get hold of the brake medicine Prolastina.

The medicine is approved by the Medical Products Agency, but despite this it is almost not used at all in Sweden.

So far, she has not found a doctor who wants to prescribe the medicine because the doctors believe that the effect is not good enough in relation to how expensive it is.

Not covered by high cost protection

Prolastina is not covered by the high-cost cover.

In this case, it is then the region that must be responsible and bear the cost.

Peter Amundin, unit manager for medicines and aids in the Västra Götaland region, believes that the chance of Åsa Edman finding a doctor who is willing to prescribe Prolastina is small.

- I can only see that it is a reasonable assessment not to print it, says Peter Amundin.

Currently, there are few studies on the drug in Sweden, but if studies were done and they could show the effect of the drug, it could be easier to get it prescribed.
