In March 2022, Twitter France and its general manager Damien Viel had won their case by being acquitted of the counts of "refusal to respond to a requisition", for the first, and "complicity in public insult", for the second, for which they had been judged.

The company and its leader were being prosecuted for not having helped the justice system to identify the authors of two abusive tweets targeting an official of the Yvelines prefecture.

The parquet floor of Versailles had appealed this release.

After learning of the reasons for the judgment, the prosecution finally proposed to the public prosecutor's office to withdraw this appeal, which was formally done in September 2022, a judicial source told AFP.

In another case, three victims of cyberbullying asked the Paris Criminal Court last week to condemn Twitter, held responsible for the dismissal of their complaints for lack of cooperation with French justice.

The court will rule on March 27 in this case.
