Since 2016, the percentage of working women in Saudi Arabia has more than doubled from 16 to 37 percent, according to figures from AFP.

One of the occupations where more women have recently been employed is in the train industry.

When jobs were advertised for train drivers on the train route between Medina and Mecca, the jobs poured in and Tharaa Ali was one of the women hired.

- I was among the first to apply and even today it feels like I have found my right place.
