It's a small revolution for Democratic voters and analysts.

Iowa and New Hamsphire will no longer give the “La” to the launch of the primaries.

It is a new electorate that will speak first, that of South Carolina, a state with a large African-American population.

The reform should allow the primaries to better reflect the diversity of the American population, facing the state of New Hampshire and the rural state of Iowa, with the overwhelmingly white population explain the elected officials who defended the project, with also has the consequence of bringing certain subjects to the top of the agenda, at the start of the campaign.

A suggestion from Biden himself

Among the Democrats of the states relegated to the second line, the opposition is fierce, but the party threatens to punish those who do not comply with the rule.

Especially since the order of the primaries should now be reviewed every four years.

The reform is a suggestion from President Biden himself.

In 2020, it was a big victory in South Carolina that allowed him to revive after failures in Iowa and New Hamsphire.

For the moment,

Joe Biden has not declared himself a candidate for a new term.

But if so, the party's decision should get him off to a good start in the race.

The first Democratic primary will take place on February 3, 2024.
