This Sunday in Epinal, nearly 550 people took part in a white march in tribute to Lucas, a 13-year-old teenager harassed because of his supposed homosexuality and whose suicide in early January aroused great emotion.

The teenager's mother, Séverine, took the lead of the procession which set off around 2 p.m. from the prefecture, under a gray sky.

"The idea is to honor the memory of this child and to stop there," said his lawyer, Me Catherine Faivre, his client to speak at the end of the march.

A march "without hate" or "revenge"

In the crowd, many parents with their children as well as students from Golbey College, near Epinal, where Lucas was educated.

Many of the participants held a portrait of the teenager in their hands and wore flocked t-shirts bearing his likeness.

Texts must be read and Lucas' dance club has also planned a show.

Lucas' mother had insisted that this march be strictly limited to paying tribute to her son, without distinctive signs or political recovery.

She had thus indicated that she wanted a march “without hatred” or “revenge” but “worthy of Lucas”, who killed himself on January 7.

Four college students tried in the spring

According to his mother, it was the harassment that was the "trigger" of her son's suicide.

"I'm sorry" for not having "been able (...) to save (Lucas). No one could", confided Séverine, very moved, during a press conference Monday in the office of her lawyer .

Lucas had also written in his diary "a word explaining his desire to end his life", had indicated the public prosecutor of Epinal, Frédéric Nahon.

The suicide of the teenager had caused great emotion and triggered many reactions on social networks.

Identified by investigators, four college students, aged 13 like Lucas, will be tried in the spring for having harassed him and pushed him to suicide, said the public prosecutor of Epinal, Frédéric Nahon, at the end of January.

He had also opened an "incidental investigation against X for non-denunciation of ill-treatment of minors" was also opened.
