Gyurcsany criticized Prime Minister Viktor Orban for the fact that Budapest maintains contacts with Moscow and pursues a different policy towards Kyiv than most EU countries.

“Orban has lost his independence in relation to the Russian president, Orban is not an independent person, he is a servant of the Russian government,” TASS quoted him as saying.

According to the politician, the oppositionists want "Western, democratic Hungary, and they will not give in on this."

The Hungarian Energy Ministry said earlier that the Hungarian authorities oppose the expansion of European Union sanctions against Russia in the energy sector.
