Virginie Girod SEASON 2022 - 202305h00, February 05, 2023

From Wednesday February 8, 2023, go to “At the Heart of History” to discover the fate of Emmett Till.

When we look at the history of the fight for civil rights in the United States, there are figures that stand out like Martin Luther King or Rosa Parks.

But there is a face that we know much less in France, that of Emmett Till, a 14-year-old African-American teenager lynched because he clumsily whistled at a white woman, in 1955, in Mississippi.

His unjust death will be a tipping point in the fight against segregation.

With historian Virginie Girod, discover the story of Emmett Till in three new episodes:

a story in two parts then an interview with the journalist Gilles Biassette to decipher this affair and extend the reflection on this crucial part of the History of the United States.

And discover at the cinema from February 8, 2023 the film "Emmett Till, the face of a revolution" directed by Chinonye Chukwu, with Danielle Deadwyler and Whoopi Goldberg.

"At the heart of history" is a Europe 1 Studio podcast.
