This was stated by the chairman of the Federation Council Valentina Matvienko.

She stressed that the actions with the burning of the Koran are an example of barbarism and xenophobia, as well as a call for inciting inter-religious hatred.

“Russian senators call on European parliamentarians to publicly condemn the actions of radical extremists as a manifestation of religious intolerance,” Matvienko wrote on Telegram.

In addition, the Federation Council called on European parliamentarians to take measures aimed at ensuring the protection of the rights of Muslims and representatives of other religions to freedom of religion.

The senators also announced the need to bring the perpetrators to justice.

On January 21, Rasmus Paludan, leader of the far-right Hard Deal party, burned a Koran outside the Turkish embassy in Stockholm.

Previously, he received permission from the authorities to hold the action.
