It is noted that from December 8, 2022 to February 2, 2023, 82,238 people died in hospitals in China from respiratory failure caused by coronavirus infection or from exacerbation of various diseases provoked by infection with COVID-19.

On January 8, it became known that China was lifting a number of anti-COVID restrictions in force since 2020, including mandatory centralized quarantine and PCR testing upon arrival from abroad.

On January 15, Reuters reported that Chinese medical institutions had recorded almost 60,000 COVID-19-related deaths.
