Mute for half a century, the Cumbre Vieja volcano woke up on September 19, 2021. The eruption lasted 85 days: no deaths to deplore, but more than a thousand devastated homes, 70 kilometers of roads destroyed and 350 hectares of banana plantation covered in lava.

The heart of the economy of this Spanish Canary Island has been hit hard.

Almost a year and a half later, a hundred inhabitants still live in the hotel and many are waiting for the aid promised by the authorities.
