This was stated by White House press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre.

She is quoted by RIA Novosti.

According to her, Biden asked the military to provide him with options for responding to the situation.

Pentagon chief Lloyd Austin and Joint Chiefs of Staff chairman Mark Milley advised Biden not to take action "because of the risk to the security of people on earth."

Jean-Pierre added that the safety of citizens for Biden is a priority.

Earlier, the US State Department announced that the visit of Secretary of State Anthony Blinken to China was postponed due to the situation with a suspected Chinese reconnaissance balloon detected in the airspace of the United States.

The Chinese Foreign Ministry explained that the balloon did indeed come from China, but it is used for scientific research.
