A man runs to his car in the middle of a blinding rainstorm and even lightning.

A man approaches the driver's back door and appears shortly afterwards with a dog.

This is Joel, a police officer from Texas, USA, and his partner, Ronnie, a police dog.

[Joel/US Texas State Police: I will never forget that sound.

I could hear the sound and know that there was a huge tornado.]

A week ago, Joel, returning to the police station after training as usual, went outside to the sudden terrifying sound of wind.

My partner of six years, Ronnie, was still in the car.

[Joel/US Texas State Police: Broken debris around you may fall, or the car may overturn.

I couldn't let that happen to Ronnie.

Ronnie had to be rescued.]

When the door that did not open due to the strong wind was opened with difficulty, Ronnie was terrified and did not want to come out.

[Joel/US Texas State Police: He's a smart guy.

He looked at the situation outside and said, 'I'm not going out!'

It seemed like this.

So he calmed down.

'are you okay.

Let's go together'.]

After rescuing Ronnie, Joel was able to go around the side of the wind-collapsed fence and safely return to the police station.

[Joel / Texas State Police: Something just flew in his face.

I don't know what it is, but it must have been something like debris.]

The tense situation at the time was captured on CCTV around the area and spread throughout the United States via social media.

Joel's courage in jumping into the tornado to save his partner dog and their friendship gave a moving applause to viewers.

[Joel/US Texas State Police: I love Ronnie.

She's my alter ego that sticks with me 7 days a week.

Ronnie is my family.

She couldn't leave her loved ones and her family in danger.

She will never do that.]
