As noted by the American side, the goals of the new initiative are "increasing the level of election integrity", as well as "promoting a constructive electoral reform" in the Balkan republic.

“As part of the Electoral Integrity Activities (EIA), USAID Serbia would like to support a local organization or coalition of local organizations in monitoring the conduct of elections at the local and national levels, as well as in advancing meaningful electoral reform,” the document states.

According to USAID representatives, improvement of the electoral system is "vital" for Serbia's "European future".

"The strategic goal of the USAID office in Serbia for the next five years is to contribute to the formation of a more economically productive and democratic Serbia, which would strive for European integration and self-sufficiency," USAID emphasized.

The United States is ready to allocate up to $2 million for the implementation of the program.

Earlier it was reported about the intention of the US State Department to allocate up to $160,000 for "expanding access to information" and "development of critical thinking and media literacy skills" among the population of Serbia.

The United States has been implementing similar projects in a number of countries over the years.

According to experts, such a policy involves interference in the internal affairs of those countries where it is carried out.
