The Prime Ministers of Sweden and Finland, both of the Nordic countries that are applying for NATO = North Atlantic Treaty Organization, met together and emphasized the significance of joining the two countries at the same time.

The background is Turkey's reluctance to join Sweden.

Sweden and Finland applied for NATO membership in May last year after Russia's military invasion of Ukraine, requiring the approval of all 30 member states.

Among these, Turkey has shown reluctance to join Sweden after a representative of a far-right group set fire to the Qur'an, the holy book of Islam, and President Erdoğan has suggested the possibility of approving only Finland's membership. I'm here.

Under these circumstances, Swedish Prime Minister Kristian and Finnish Prime Minister Marin held a press conference on the 2nd.

Prime Minister Cristion said, ``We have produced concrete results for all items of the memorandum exchanged with Turkey.''

Prime Minister Marin also emphasized that "the security of the two countries is one, and joining NATO at the same time will serve the interests of NATO as a whole."

Both countries hope to join the NATO by July, when the NATO summit will be held. It seems that it will continue to take a hardline stance, and there is no prospect of joining.
