Länsförsäkringar's calculation shows that a student in the country on average loses almost SEK 1,500 a month.

In Gothenburg, the average student gets to deduct another thousand Swedish kroner.

- It agrees quite well with what we have heard and the trends we have seen, says Leonardo Rhedin, union chairman of the Göta student union.

Don't be surprised by the numbers

Nor is the student Vilma Strömberg surprised by the figures from the calculation.

- No, it still sounds quite reasonable.

It's not that easy to just change all your lifestyle habits, she says.

Looking for extra work

Classmate Alva Nuñez Halldin also notices the rising costs.

She usually has to take away her savings to get the finances together.

More than half of the money she receives and borrows from CSN goes towards the rent, which is SEK 6,400.

- I am looking for an extra job because it is not sustainable as it is now, she says.

The cost situation means that she is forced to prioritize certain purchases and opt out of others, such as certain entertainment and more expensive food.

- I can't remember the last time I went to the cinema.

And I love cinema, says Alva Nuñez Halldin.

In the video, you will hear the students tell more about how the financial situation affects them and their everyday life.
